Post subject: Seek error in the file 20080612.rar

Hi,

nice to meet you on this forum Smile

I got an error with rar32.exe (v3.71) command line if the archive is over 2GB
I have a daily archive with thousands files in hundreds folders and some time I use rar32.exe to extract specific files on specific folders.
No problem in last months, because all files was under 2GB.
But last week my archive size increase over 2GB and I'm not able to use the rar32.exe, because I got the error "Seek error"

Code:
S:\Archivio>RAR32.exe x 20080612.rar Archivio\200*\folder01\folder02\200*.*
Warning: No DPMI-server FPU support

RAR 3.71   Copyright (c) 1993-2007 Alexander Roshal   20 Sep 2007

Seek error in the file 20080612.rar
Program aborted

Invalid argument
S:\Archivio>

It's a bug or a RAR limit in the archive over 2GB?

Thanks in advance

Miki

Problem solved with support from RAR development

Quote:
Hello,

Rar32.exe is DOS RAR version and it cannot handle files larger
than 2 GB because of DOS limitations. If you run rar in Windows
command prompt (DOS box), it is strongly recommended to use
rar.exe from WinRAR distributive instead of rar32.exe.
Rar.exe from WinRAR distributive provides practically the same
command line syntax as rar32.exe, but it is free of 2 GB limitation.

RAR development

Thanks and regards

Miki
