Hi,
I have 98se on a toshiba techra 8100. I have a linksys wireless card and the
note book is on a docking station. When both the card and dock lan are
enabled I can not get on the inter net. If I disable either one I can get on
teh net. I have all the updates and patches installed and both work fine
independantly. I just want to have both enable so if I lose the wireless
signal the lan will take over.
Thanks,
John

Why not disable the wireless when the laptop is connected to the docking
station? You're not likely to lose the LAN signal. (I don't know why having
them both enabled causes them not to work, you'd have to ask an expert in
docking stations. Ii my experience, you can have both LAN and wireless
connected and things work just fine under normal circumstances.)

Thanks gary,
If this was my laptop I would be happy with just using the lan and not the
wireless when docked. However this is my big brothers laptop and he is a
little anal about things and thinks it is to hard to disable/enable devices.
My laptop does fine with both wireless and lan at the same time when docked,
but I am using xp on a new laptop. Do you know where I can get docking info?
Thanks again,
John

Thinking about it, I'm probably letting XP info seep into my thinking. I'm
not so sure, now, about how 98 would handle both LAN and wireless in
general.
Anyway, like I said, I don't do docking, so I've given you what I can, and
unless the perfect expert wanders by with some solution I somehow doubt
exists, I think you're anal brother may need to adjust to the world as it
is, even if he's right and disabling NICs in Win98 is a PITA.

LOL, Thanks for the input. I figured I would tell him the cruel realities of
the dock.
