No argument. I'm only saying that, assuming Verizon is his ISP,
news.microsoft.com is contained within his 40,000 (or whatever it is) entry
"usenet download" to the Verizon server.

Oh oh, an FCC lawyer with Windows 98 installed!!
OK, sticking it to the breathtakingly ambitious Andrew Cuomo is not a
problem, although I don't think the FCC fought it tooth and nail.

If you're having a problem similar to the OP's (Urge, who may not be a
Verizon subscriber), perhaps you'd be better off starting a new thread about
/your/ problem, Roger?

Do we know that the OP's a Verizon subscriber?

It may well be that the MS groups are mirrored by the Verizon server, but
it's irrelevant if he is connecting to news.microsoft.com. It doesn't
matter who the ISP is - all they are doing is providing a link to the
internet so the user can connect to the MS news server.

Yes, to clarify what Jeff said: news.microsoft.com is a newsSERVER.
There may also be (I don't know as I don't subscribe to it) a newsGROUP
of the same name; if so, it is part of the news.* hierarchy which
Verizon include in the "big 8" they still support.
