Hi i was wondering if any one else has suddenly encountered the problem with
windows defender. I have the little icon telling me to check for mew
definitions, when i have done this it states no new definitions available but
the icon has not disappeared. The latest version on my computer is
1.45.124.0. I have run scans and nothing shows up as dodgy and even restarted
my computer. Help i`m running out of ideas?. I am running vista premium.

Same problem here. It can't find any updates, but the icon won't go away.

Can't find help online.

Ok, found it. The automatic update was failing without giving the proper
error response. Just manually update the definitions from here:
