Post subject: me troubles Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsme>general (more info?)
this info was given to me by a friend who is having problems. after
installing me, he was asked twice to backup on a floopy so he did. me then
started downloading on its own. now he cannot access the outside world. no
msn or outlook express. i have sent him articles on "going back in time" not
sure if it has helped. any ideas from anyone? sorry i know the info i have
given is skimpy. thanks jenna19

Can you make this a bit more clear. I do not have one clue what you are
talking about. Did it ask him to make a "backup/boot disc"?? That is
the only thing I can think of for a floppy.
ME started downloading on its own? Makes absolutely no sense.
Tell him how to use System Restore.....but I bet he never downloaded the
patch that will make it work. (from Sept. of 2001)

You CAN'T download ME from anywhere.....you have to buy the CD and
install from that.

Well not anywhere official , which was what I was trying to find out.
I am suspecting that " ME started downloading on its own" was perhaps some
unknown nasty being downloaded from a questionable shareware site.
