Post subject: IE 6.0/ sp1 "Managing Add-Ons" and Trojan Horse problem
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>inetexplorer>ie6>ieak (more info?)

Hi everyone,

This is actually a two part question, one pertaining add-ons and on
pertaining trojan horses/spyware along w/antivirus software.... (I'm using IE
6.0/sp1 with a Broadband connection and the OS is XP/sp2

(1) I've been having some computer problems and was checking certain things
on my system. When looking at the "Manage Add-Ons", I saw an add-on that I
don't recognize. There is no listing of the Publisher, nor the file where
the add on exists or anything, all columns are just blank with the exception
of this number listed at the beginning column. I also searched everywhere
and cannot find any info pertaining to it. I do not know how to DELETE this,
just simply DISABLE it. I would like to be able to DELETE some of my add-ons
if anyone knows how to do this as well. There is no "DELETE" button, nor can
u right click to delete anything so I am lost??? The number in my add-ons
list is as follows:

{CD67F990-D8E9-11D2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE}

Has anyone ever seen this or know what it stands for or means? I'm at a
loss ??

(2) I was told by emachines about a week ago that I had downloaded a trojan
horse because of the way my system is acting. At present, I do not have my
recovery cd to use it, it's in storage so I'm stuck with whatever is causing
my system harm. My Microsoft antivirus programs are not picking this trojan
or spyware up nor is anything else I've tried but SOMETHING has slowed my
system down ALOT. When I boot it up, it runs forever and ever and ever it
seems and also when I go from program to program. The biggest problem is
opening programs, it seems to take forever. . Any suggestions on that as
well?

Thank You for any responses - I would really appreciate your time.

LOL to all here Smile
