Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsme>new-user (more info?)

my system will not let me do anything within the control panel

gives me an error message that the rundll32.exe in not available or may be
miss typed. I check my files and ran searches for rundll32.exe and it come
back with no results.

I've thought about re-installing window Me but don't want to do anything
wrong. If I could get some help, please

You'll find a 'fresh' copy of rundll32.exe (which will need to be extracted)
in WIN_17.CAB.

OK - Leave it to you to fathom.

Post subject: Fix for rundll32 exe file [Login to view extended thread Info.]

I, too, have had that problem of the missing run32dll. exe file - three times in fact. Twice, I restored my computer to an earlier date. The second time I restored I searched my system 32 folder for the run32dll file which was there after restore.

I copied this file to a folder placed in an external hard drive. Today it happened again!! This time I did not restore. I simply copied the file from my stashed away copy on my external and pasted it into the C drive's System32 folder. Immediately, the things that did not work once again worked. This includes items in the control panel and my calendar by date and time area on toolbar. I noticed that this missing file event happened after running a Spy Sweeper sweep. Not sure this is culprit, however. But I still do have my backup file socked away in an external drive. Hope this helps someone.
