Post subject: Question on remote registry editing..
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsnt>registry (more info?)

Hello,

I usually do a lot of virus and adware removal by
removing the HD from the infected machine, putting
on my clean (Win2000) machine, running AVG and
Spysweeper to remove viruses and most, if not all
adware files. I've also been able to load the hives
into my registry to remove bogus entries. The
problem is, if the drive has a different OS on
it, I cannot load the hive.
Is there any way to do this? Third party app?
I've tried Resplendent Registrar, but still won't
load hives from a different OS.

I can load system.dat on a 98 machine as long
as I have to drive slaved to a 98 machine - so on.
