Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win95>msdosapps (more info?)

Autoexec.bat and config.sys are renamed whenever msconfig is
used to disable them. Windows also renames them whenever
a program requires the computer to restart in MS-DOS mode
with a new configuration. If you ever get a chance to work on
the computer again, adding "fileshigh=100" back to the config.sys
file may prevent the "not enough file handles..." error.
