I am using win xp pro with service pack 2, latest updates and patches
are installed.
I got an older game here which i havenīt installed a long time ago.
Some time ago (half a year) everything worked fine. I installed the game
.. After the installation i needed a patch to play it. The patch did some
regitry changes and i could play the game without problems.
Last weekend i wanted to play this game again. But i noticed now that
the patch no longer worked properly. The patch couldnīt write values to
the registry. I got a failer from the patch "registry patching failed"
My question. It is obvious that some win update is now blocking doing
registry changes. Someone knows more about it an can help me to solve my
problem? Is it possible to deactivate this feature? Which service is
responsible for that blocking and where can i disable it?

ya
well, can you uninstall the last updates. maybe it would work again then and or redown load your patch and try reinstalling it..
i think it's best to put your updates one at a time run them awhille before you put on another. reading the info before you install wouldn't hurt either.
