Post subject: operation of IE6sp1 on winME
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>inetexplorer>ie6>browser (more info?)

Hello:
For past month or so -noticing on websites with a lot of content ie.
NYTimes,Huffington Post - the site intially loads quickly (cox cable isp)
then there is a pause and the status bar shows another download occuring.
That 2nd dload is 9/10 complete and again there is long pause during which
current page is not active. Does not respond to input, etc. After 20/30
seconds page again becomes active - but shortly thereafter again goes dead.

Any inputs seem to have backed up - and if I tried to scross to no effect -
when page/site again is alive multiple scrolls up and down come on together.
Not a good experience.

Downloaded Opera, vs. 9.6 and selected it as default browser. For an hour
or so - ran fine with none of the on again off again I described in IEvs.
6. However, when I tried to re-open Opera browser neither it or IE6 would
open. Eventually Internet Explorer showed notice asking if I wanted it to
be default browser. Which got me back to same delayed receipt of those
sites.

Is there conflict if Opera and IE6 installed on same machine>? thoughts on
what is going on with IE6?
My operating system not supported by IE7?

thanks
Barry

Perhaps an ad?

Are you blocking ads in any way?

That sounds good to me. Stacking input sounds better than having it
thrown away.

Options, Programs tab. Uncheck:
Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser.

Network delay or a web site's strategy for dealing with ad blockers.
Plus proof that you *can* stack input. Good to know.

Get XP or Vista if you want to use IE7 or greater.
