I got a Princeton flat screen monitor from a friend who said it works, yet
when I plug it in and turn on the computer it turns on, then off, on, off.
It displays ok except for the flickering.

Presumably, another monitor works OK on the PC.

What happens if you boot from your WinMe Startup (floppy) Disk and boot into
DOS (Help Pages)?

At least this will eliminate any 'WinMe' drivers and/or suspect WinMe
power/standby settings.

If OK, what happens if you boot into Safe Mode? (640 x 480, 256 colours)

Again, if OK, you may need to confirm (and reduce) the Video driver settings
(resolution, etc.) in Normal Mode.

If symptoms continue, you should test/substitute your flatscreen monitor
(and associated video cable) on another PC.
