Oh Gary? *grins*
When you figure it out could you tell me too? I haven't seen one from them
in a year or so I bet. Did you sneak in and unsubscribe both of us for their
special offers?

I can fix it, Galen. Just give me your login, email and password!
I think what happened to mine is that I didn't really do any business with
them for a couple of years and I retired the email address that I used with
them. Or maybe they just booted me for inactivity, cleaned out their
database, whether on purpose or by accident, something like that?

Hey Galen! Your publisher called.... <gd&rvvf>
Didn't realise I was hiding! I will be happy to testify to your verbosity, but I
think it would be redundant at this point.
I am enjoying your opinions on the flavours of Linux and am taking notes, as I plan
to try Mandriva or SUSE fairly soon. Knoppix is just too frustrating to work with
from CD (and silly to attempt to put on hard drive).

Thanks for the links. I never looked for a ChipsBnk driver because this generic
driver worked with it, but I will download it for later use, since I collect these
things (although I can't always find where I stored them, later).

No luck with driver download, the information I'm getting now is, there is no
win 98se driver availabe now for my pen drive, so as you suggested would you
send me the universal driver download you used for win98

Yeah I don't think they need a warning any longer. *sigh*
Anyhow, I've been pretty fond of Ubuntu lately so if you want to poke at a
live CD that's easy enough to accomplish and from there you can just click
the install when you feel comfortable. I have a virtual machine addiction as
of late. I've been an outspoken fan of VMware but VPC's pretty nice lately.
I don't think I'll consider a switch back to Linux any time soon, not for
home-use. I'm entering a phase where I'm looking at paid support though in
the near future and I can see where they were coming from with the "Get the
Facts" campaign/study.
If you have a spare PC or if you have an extra drive (I'm sure you have
both) then I used to recommend that interested parties try this:
Format a slave. (We'll ignore dual booting for now.)
Remove the master and set the slave as master.
Insert disk and boot.
Install.
Take your old master and bring it to a friend's house.
Do not go get it for a week.
Eventually you'll miss the PC and the internet so much that you'll figure
out what you're doing. It is cheating but I suppose that today I'd recommend
that people actually keep a second PC handy so that they can check online
for their issues when they have them. It isn't a question if, it is a
question of when. I used to recommend a book as well. I don't any more
though once you settle on a distro that suits your needs then a book is good
for additional learning.
