Post subject: Cannot downgrade from IE 7 to IT 6 Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>inetexplorer>ie6>setup (more info?)
Hi,
I've XP sp3 installed on my desktop. It came with internet explorer 7. But
for my work purpose I need internet explorer 6. I tried to uninstall IE 7 by
going into add/remove programs but there is no IE 7 in the list.
Could anyone tell me if there is any other way to go back to IE 6. I would
appreciate any help in this matter.

Which came first? IE7 or XPsp3?
If XPsp3 was installed after IE7 you will have to uninstall the service pack
to see the browser as it was installed in the original OS.

You probably don't need to "go back", just change your User-Agent string
so the web site sees MSIE 6.0 instead of MSIE 7.0

Oh really? ; }

BTW please learn how to post in threaded discussions.
By adding your comment to an existing blank line
you make it very easy to overlook that you have actually
added something.
Also, you are posting in a newsgroup which is more or less obsolete
and rarely read. If you had been looking in one of the more used
IE newsgroups you would have found "User-Agent string" (that phrase)
easily too.
