There is no SYSTEM RESTORE in Win 98 however there is in Win Me. There
is no need to disable SYSTEM RESTORE in Win Me to fix a virus. The
files in SYSTEM RESTORE are not used unless you need to activate a
restore, and one assumes you wouldn't knowing you have a virus in
there. The files will be flushed out automatically as Restore stores
new data.

Windows 98 does not have System Restore, so you are done already.

Get ANYTHING to replace Norton crapware,
You have Norton installed,
You have a virus,
Norton didnt stop it getting in,
Norton probably wont stop it coming back,
The program long ago ceased to be a viable AV
search this, or google 'groups' and notice just how bad Symantec have made
Norton
