Our Win95 PC crashed recently. Of all things, it happened while attempting
to make an emergency startup disk. It appeared as if the partition and boot
sector got damaged, and we had to re-partition and re-format the drive. We
managed to get DOS loaded, and the CD-ROM drivers load, but cannot get the
Win95 setup program to run. Does anyone know if DOS can be made to do this?
(The CD-ROM will play music CD's, but apparently can't recognize or run .exe
files.) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The Windows 95 startup disk does not include drivers for the CD. Get a
utility to create a startup disk for W95 with CD device drivers that should
work for your CD drive at <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.bootdisk.com" target="_blank">www.bootdisk.com</a>
