I have always been able to click on an email link in IE and have the email
pop up and be ready to write.
Now, I get an error saying that the email client is not properly installed.
My default email is Outlook Express and it works fine, except for the
problem above.
I've checked all the usual settings and can't find the problem.
Please help.

To set Outlook as the default mail client,- Go to Start, Run - Type in the
following with quotation marks and press OK
"C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /checkclient
For more information on Outlook see:

Hi:
Thank you for the list. I tried all of the suggestions and I still have the
same problem.
I restarted the computer after each of the various repair ideas.
There were no detected problems, but I went through each step.
Any other ideas?

By the way, the send to works in Word, Access, etc. It is only not working
in IE from a 'mail to' link.

I think all my problems are related to a trial installation of Firefox.
Not only do I have no clickable 'mail to' function, but I have no sound for
videos in IE anymore.
This is really annoying.
I have tried 'repair' and I have tried almost anything that I can find on
the net that addresses these problems.

Try this method to remove/reinstall IE/OE. Although written for XP, it
works on all earlier operating systems, except Windows 95. Make sure your
antivirus program is completely disabled before doing the reinstall to avoid
corrupting the installation:

Try re-establishing both IE and OE as the defaults in Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs > Set Program Access and Defaults.
