Do you know for a fact that the CD is made to autorun when inserted? Not
all are, you know.

HI!
I HAD THIS PROBLEM
FIRST GO TO
START
SETTINGS
CONTROL PANNEL
SYSTEM
DEVICE MANAGER
CD-ROM
SETTINGS
OPTIONS
UNDER OPTIONS THE FOLLOWING MUST BE CHECKED
DISCONNECT
AUTO INSERT NOTIFICATION
DMA
DO THIS FOR EACH CD-ROM OR BURNER PLAYER YOU MAY HAVE
THEN IF IT STILL DOESN'T WORK FOLLOW LIVINGSTONS DIRECTIONS BELLOW:
THIS IS A QUOTE FROM BRIAN LIVINGSTON," ....REGISTRY KEY NO DRIVE TYPE AUTORUN IN HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\
CURRENTVERSION\POLICIES\EXPLORER. THIS KEY CONTROLS THE ACTION THAT IS TAKEN BY EXPLORER UPON NOTIFICATION FROM THE CD-ROM DRIVE THAT A CD HAS BEEN INSERTED (AS LONG AS AUTO INSERT NOTIFICATION IS TURNED ON FOR THE HARDWARE IN SYSTEM SETTINGS FOR THE CD-ROM.)

TO CORRECTLY AUTORUN ANY INSERTED CD-ROM (AND COINCIDENTLY TO DISPLAY THE AUTO PLAY MENU OPTION WHEN RIGHT CLICKING ON A CD-ROM ICON), THE VALUE OF NOTYPEAUTORUN SHOULD BE THE HEX 95 00 00 00."

NOW THIS SOLUTION WORKS FOR WINDOWS 95 AND WINDOWS 98, 98SE. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT ANY OTHERS.

IT WORKED FOR ME AND I AM RUNNING WINDOWS 98 SE.
TYPE REGEDIT
SAVE YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY CHANGES AND THEN JUST OPEN THE FOLDERS TILL YOU GET TO THE NODRIVE TYPE AUTO RUN KEY AND CHANGE IT TO
95 00 00 00.
