11.3 Why do I get an error message that says no backup licenses can be found
when I try to restore my licenses?
This problem may occur when you back up your licenses using Windows Media
Player 10, and then roll back to an earlier version of the Player before
restoring the licenses. The following error message may be displayed when you
try to restore the backed up licenses in the earlier version of the
Player-"Windows Media Player cannot restore your licenses because no backed
up licenses were found on your computer."

This error occurs because the Digital Rights Management (DRM) security
components in earlier versions of the Player cannot verify the digital
signature in a license backup created by using Windows Media Player 10.

To restore licenses backed up in Windows Media Player 10 while using earlier
versions of the Player, do the following:
Install a hotfix for your version of the Player:

Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows XP
Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003
Windows Media Player for Windows XP

Restore your backed up licenses again.

And the relevance of any of this to those using the Win Me operating
system? To save you taxing your brain further the answer is "none" since
problems relating to the use of WMP10 are of little interest to those
running Win Me since WMP10 is not supported on Win Me.
