Post subject: automatically check for internet explorer updates
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>inetexplorer>ie6>ieak (more info?)

We cannot have IE7 in our environment as it break in-house applications. We
are now finding that IE is redirecting users to M$ downloads so they can get
the "latest and greatest". Supposedly the following GPO should remove said
"feature", but of course it is not.

GPO -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows
Components -> Internet Explorer -> Disable periodic check for Internet
Explorer software updates

I need a FUNCTIONING registry edit or GPO to disable this setting. Anyone
know it??
