I am also having the same problem and I am about to throw my computer out the
window! I need some really simple directions to fix this.... Does the
previous post's link work? And if so, does anyone know if it works with Avast?

andyz1234 and the angelbelow - Thank you!!!! I've been having the very same
error 1058 problem (I'm running Windows XP) for 3 solid days now. I took your
suggestion re using "Malwarebytes" and I can't believe the results. Thank you
for saving my sanity!

hi i have also been having this problem , i used the avira antivirus
software it is great it scanned 1000's more files than avg and sorted out the
problem you can download it from avira.com and its free. when you have
finished the scan and deleted you infected files re run service.msc if you
dont know how to do this go to the microsoft update it will say it cant do
updates because the automatic updater is not working but gives instructions
to fix the problem. i hope this makes sense because it worked for me
