How and where can I set a DNS entry so the 2003 Server is able to
resolve its own domain name.
The computer name for the server is: CKTy8765 with a static ip of
192.168.254.40
Windows 2003 Server, Primary Domain Controller and Exchange Server are
all within the same box. All the users are set with their 1st DNS
server setting as 192.168.254.40.
I looked at the "dnsmgmt" (Administrative Tools - DNS), but not sure
where I should make the entry. I am guessing its in the "Forward
Lookup Zones"?

The servers were set up a few years ago. The consultant who did the
work felt the users would have a difficult time remembering the URL as
http://CKTy8765.franklininc.com/exchange so he set up a more friendly
version as http://comail.franklininc.com/exchange ("comail" for
"Company Mail"). Our Windows 2003 server recently crashed and we had
to do a re-install and lost whatever settings were put in originally.
The original Consultant is no longer
available. Is there a way to "alias" the original URL? Or set up a
static route to point or forward the traffic?

Hi
If you want the users to get that address through public address you must
have the public DNS name published in a public DNS server (normally the ISP
or any other DNS service provider can do this), then for that public domain
name "franklininc.com" you must have a record "comemail" that points to your
public IP address of your router, so, when user type
comemail.franklininc.com they'll be directed to your router. In your router
you must do the proper configurations to make sure that they'll be
redirected to the proper exchange server.
Note: Generally is not a good idea to have all these services in one server,
you should separate the roles when possible to not compromise your internal
security.
