My cat lay along the lower end of my keyboard while the computer was on -
which turned the contents of the screen upside down!

Re-booting and shutting down have failed to solve the problem. I also tried
systems restore but that didn't work either, although I'm not sure if I was
using it correctly.

All the start-up data is the right way up, but everything goes upside down
from Windows "Welcome" onwards.

Can you suggest any key combination that might fix the problem? Or anything
else? What combination of keys might the cat have pressed to cause this?

Any answers, tips or ideas would be much appreciated.

For Intel Extreme graphics the key combination is Ctrl+Alt+Up Arrow to
return to normal view.

If the system is using an ATI graphics card is it possible that Hotkeys
are enabled and that these have been used to rotate the display. You
access the ATI control centre where this is configured by right clicking
on the desktop and selecting Catalyst Control Centre. You would then be
able to see the key combinations used.

I suspect that nVidia graphics might have a similar option.

Thank you, Mike. Control Alt Up-Arrow brought me back to normal. Best,
Noorjabal

Noorjabal,

Thanks for posting back and letting us all know that you've now fixed your
upside down display problem and how you did this. Hopefully this will
help others experiencing the same problem.

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

Dear Mike and Everyone,

Here is a full list of keys that someone on another website sent me for
screen orientation problems, in case it's ever useful.

"Ctrl-Alt-Up - right side up

Ctrl-Alt-Right - 90 degrees

Ctrl-Alt-Down - 180 degrees

Ctrl-Alt-Left - 270 degrees

If that doesn’t work, try Ctrl-Shift-R"

I haven't tempted fate by trying any except the first, which resolved my
problem.

Best,

Claire

Thanks,

As I posted in your other thread I am aware of those key combinations
which is why I suggested you try Ctrl-Alt-Up to correct your problem.
Unfortunately however not all graphics drivers use the same key
combinations.

Thanks for this post! It really worked for me. I cannot imagine how you
posted the question with your screen upside down as I had a difficult time
getting around the net or otherwise controling my computer with the screen
inverted. But, the answer here did the trick in no time!

Thank you thank you!
