Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win2000>setup (more info?)

This isn't really too important at all but if it can be corrected,
good.
I'm using a refurbished Compaq with Windows 2000 on,and I've tried to
check the box in Display Properties > Effects to smooth screen fonts.
It doesn't do anything as far as I can tell, and I remember from my XP
laptop that it did make them non-pixellated-looking. Am I doing
anything wrong? There is an NVidia Active Desktop addition to the
usual Windows properties set, is it related to that? It's currently
not set to active

Thanks.
