Post subject: System Restore Add to elertz
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsme>systemtools (more info?)

My computer was downloading an automatic update to my virus software, when it
froze up. I rebooted the computer but now it won't properly load windows.
It goes through all the preliminaries, but after the little windows jingle
plays, all I get is a blank screen with a cursor. I've run all the
diagnostic programs, and they are all ok. I've run scandisk and it found no
errors. I guess the windows startup somehow was corrupted.

Is there any way that I can run the system restore tool from DOS. Please
help!!

Noel, thanks for the quick response. Could not get into safe mode either.
Followed the instructions in the link and did access MSCONFIG. I tried
launching the system restore but it wouldn't launch the program. Any other
suggestions? Your help is greatly appreciated.

I was able to do a system restore using the ME start up disk. It seems to be
working again. Thanks for your help. I think it might be time to start
backing up my files--don't know how much longer this hard drive is going to
last.

Glad to hear you got back up and running - I assume you mean that you were
able to do a registry restore?
How far back did you have to go?

Data backups are ALWAYS a good idea. Never wait until you /have/ to do it -
it's usually to late by that time! Smile

My emails are displayed at 10 or 12 point, but print out at about 15 point or larger. I have tried, but can't find any way to
adjust the printing font either on the Canon printer Properties, or using F9. Any ideas, please?

If you are referring to e-mails printed out from Outlook Express, the font
size when printed is controlled by the View | Text Size setting in
Internet Explorer since OE uses the IE print engine.

Mike,
Many thanks for that. I was under the mistaken impression this control only affected the size on screen. Problem solved.

Jim.
