Set it from Custom level to Default level, close and reopen the browser, and see if
it fixes the problem. That's a painless and easy test to find out.

I tried that. No luck. I also have Panicware popup stopper and disabled it
and still does not work. The only update I know of for OE was q823353.

Strange, I have q837009 listed as an update in IE. And q823353 in OE. If I
uninstall the OE update and reinstall you think this will help. Is q823353
still offered at WU? I guess I can check the catalog. Thanks I'll get back
with you all shortly.

No. I don't think you have any problems with those Updates in particular.
Your system doesn't exhibit the symptoms. If it will make you feel better,
you might want to reinstall KB823353, http://tinyurl.com/3zd6d, just to be
sure the latest versions of the files involved are installed.
Please! Do what I suggested and re-post this question, using proper
cross-posting, to the two IE and OE newsgroups I recommended, who are much
more likely to have the experience required to recognize this issue (if
anyone does.) You have relayed stories of installing other apps and then
trying to tie them together in unnatural ways. It is no wonder you have
problems, but the other folks are much more likely to recognize just what
you're talking about and maybe even have a solution. I seriously doubt
you're going to get the answer here.

It can be confusing, especially since the one with the lower number was
actually released well after the one with the higher number.

Post subject: Re: Reinstall OE [Login to view extended thread Info.] Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)
I did not find q823353 in the WU catalog and although I have read Glen's
link and see a DL for it this was dated July 13, 2004 TechNet and this other
webpage I found in Knowledge Base was dated August 14, 2005 says it is for
win2k and xp for:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-018.mspx
A dialog box with no text appears if you reply to a news message in Outlook
Express 6 Service Pack 1
and the article says nothing about q837009
Are Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, or Windows Millennium Edition
critically affected by any of the vulnerabilities that are addressed in this
security bulletin?
No. None of these vulnerabilities are critical in severity on Windows 98, on
Windows 98 Second Edition, or on Windows Millennium Edition.
Confused...Also I updated kb837009 in April of 2004 and kb823353 in July of
2004. I do not find kb823353 in WU list for win98 or 2nd ed. Do you all
think I should get rid of it?
