I have a Compaq Presario preloaded with Win95b and also have I.E..&OE 5.5. I
had some problems and had to reinstall Windows. I then transferred all
the data from WinOld to WinNew. However, I am NOT happy with the performance
as some features DO NOT work well as it used to! As such, I would like to
REINSTALL Win95 with the Compaq QuickRestore.
In order to do that, I need to TRANSFER the data and ALL the Email in TWO
Identities from Win 95b PC to WinXP sp2 PC! I have Networked using a
BlackBox Router and I have a Broadband connection.
Thanking you

XP's Files and Settings Transfer Wizard (in Start | All Programs |
Accessories | System Tools) can copy Outlook Express accounts, address
books, and E-mail messages from the old computer to the new one over
the network. I think that it can transfer multiple identities, but I
haven't tested that.
Run it on the new computer and follow the prompts.

I have done what you had suggested quite successfully. All the Emails and
Addresses are in my new PC with XP. I now have a fresh problem. I am not
able to copy the files - mainly from Works, Word and Excel from Win 95 to
WinXP. Sometimes, I don't see the Win 95 PC at all when I open My Network
Places! Why is it so? And when I do, I tried to write it directly to a CDRW
but it seems to require that I first copy it and then only I can Write
it!Why is it so?
Thanking you
Kind regards

You're welcome. Instead of using My Network Places, access the Win 95
PC directly from XP by typing 95's computer name in the Start | Run
box in this format:
\\computer
Are you trying to write files to a CD over the network? The network
might not be able to provide data fast enough to keep the CD writer
going. Copying the files to XP and then writing them to a CD would
avoid that problem.
