Post subject: Problem downloading streaming video.
Hello,
I have WMP 7. The site from which I am attempting to download a steaming video sample is this one:
http://www.livesporton.tv/Stream-Cricket.asp I can
get it quite easily on my neighbour's Win2000 Professional ( a somewhat
neglected system). I have cable broadband (as does he) with Shaw Cable and, for the most part my download speed (from TestYourNet) is up to this IP's average).
The trial sample requires a login - the username & password are given on the website page. I can access the login page (License Acquisition) but am, inevitably, given a 'This page cannot be displayed - There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.' error.
I have tried innumerable settings changes in both WMP and I.E. to no avail. But I am quite unfamiliar with most of those settings anyway. The time factor between my succeeding on my neighbour's machine and failing on mine was no more than 10 mins.
If you could give me some feedback on which are the critical settings in WMP and I.E. for the facilitation of streaming video, or any other suggestions, I will be most appreciative.
Thank-you.
Ben B.
An update.

This issue has been resolved for now
Although I had been able to watch the streaming using WMP 7 recently over
several hours during a period of perhaps seven days, and since my first
post, I have installed WMP 9 and making some settings changes in
Tools|Options|Privacy|Enhanced Content Provider Services - checking the box
'Send unique Player ID to content providors' and under the Performance tab -
placing the slider at the half-way point - I was able to view the sample
streaming..If I can learn more and confirm these settings are indeed
critical I will post again.

i've had problems like this. i had to contact the site and let them know. then they fix what ever is wrong with their site or the provide an url to download the proper codecs. contact them see if you need special codecs or maybe a flashmedia thing. ask them if they could put the info on their site so you could download it from them.
also check to see if your vidieo card is powerful enough.
