Post subject: PCMCIA USB hardware not Found Add to elertz
I've installed a 2-port USB PCMCIA card in my Compaq 1060 laptop. Win98se does not recognize that the new hardware has been added either during bootup or from the 'add hardware' icon in the control panel. The Device Manager does not show the USB card and clicking on the PCMCIA icon in the control panel shows the slot being empty.
Both PCMCIA laptop slots appear to be working OK since I swapped my PCMCIA modem into both slots and the modem works fine.
I attempted to install the USB card manually using the CD disk that came with it, but when I click on the 'have disk' and point to Drive D ( my CD) I get a dialog box stating the disk does not contain hardware information.
I'd appreciate any comments on why Win98se doesn't recognize the new hardware. According to the information that came with the PCMCIA USB card, win98se should recogize it, and any suggestions on what to try next.
