Got problem with my old PC: firstly, when power on PC, it loads very slow,
when it come to step with big blue windows logo, then it froze and stay in
this condition. So I restarted, then it prompt restart in safe mode(since
not finished previous loading), then I managed to load windows, and got
several errors: Firewall error, Antivirus error, IP configuration error(can
no read IP configuration), missing the Internet connection - cant connect
to the internet.
As I can see, there is something wrong with Network card: I took a few
screenshots, errors and network adapter properties.

How to reinstall Network card? My disk free space is very small, 1,32 GB
(from 20Gb)

Reinstallation of the Win98 OS is not "radical methods."
It takes about 45 minutes thus is usually the fastest
resolution to problems like yours. Beforehand read
http://support.microsoft.com/support/windows/topics/hardware/hwddresct...sp?SD=g
and consult http://aumha.org/win4/.
Identify your NIC and look for updated Win98 drivers.

If a good OS installation with good NIC drivers will not
activate the NIC, you should probably replace the card.

Reinstalling an OS like Windows is not at all the same as reformatting
the hard drive.

It means reinstalling the windows files on top of the same files,
replacing any that are missing or damaged** with the original files.

**How do they get damaged.

I'm reluctant to do this too, but maybe not for a good reason. So let
me ask now. I'm afraid that some of my files have already been
updated since 1998, by installing software that came with updated .dll
files for example, and that if I reinstall Windows, I'll put in the
older files that win98 came with, which won't be adequate for newer
programs. Does the reinstall do date checking to prevent this?

Somewhat related, but probably not applicable here, I've worried that
when I go searching the web for a .dll, I can't assume the newest is
the best for me. Is that right? That sometimes a newer .dll might
have capabilities I don't need, while not having one that I do need
that a somewhat older one, modified by a different software company,
has?

Device Manager is telling you that Plug and Play is unable to find any
free Memory Range resources. In the case of my Realtek 8139 NIC, this
Memory Range is 08014000 - 080140FF. This represents 256 bytes on the
NIC which are mapped to an address just above 128MB. My system only
has 128MB of RAM, so this address is outside physical RAM. That is,
you do not have a problem with system memory. Instead it appears that
some other device is grabbing the memory address range that the NIC
wants to use, resulting in an unresolveable conflict.

You may be able to see the allowable memory ranges for your NIC by
selecting the Resources tab in Device Manager, unchecking "Use
automatic settings", selecting "Memory Range" and selecting "Change
setting".

You can see the complete list of Memory Range assignments for all
devices in DM by selecting Computer -> Properties -> Memory.

You can also produce a complete report using msinfo32.exe. Select
Hardware Resources -> Memory.

You should go to device manager and remove the network card device. Then
reboot. Windows will detect the installed card and will install the correct
drivers for it. Once the card is re-installed properly the other functions
will also come good. If that still doesn't work, remove the network card
device as above, shut down, remove the network card, reboot, shut down
reinstall the network card and reboot.

The Realtwek 8029 card is known for this sort of problem - it simply refuses
to initialise properly during boot and this causes a cascade of problems
relating to the card and network connections. There is no specific fix for
the problem.

Do not re-install your operating system - that is a last resort, and in any
case would not affect this problem.

If you have confirmed that you can safely remove these lines, then you
should delete them from the relevant files, such as AUTOEXEC.BAT and
CONFIG.SYS. Note that if you choose to edit them in DOS, you should
re-enable them in the MSCONFIG utility before doing the edit.

You could leave them there just in case you need them again at some
future time. Instead add the following line to the beginning of the
file:

@echo off

This will stop them being displayed.
