Post subject: NT 4 SERVER: access denied... to administrator too Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsnt>domain (more info?)
From time to time I run into this problem and don't really understand it.
We have a NT 4 sp6 server based domain. Yesterday, one of the domain members
copied a file into a shared folder on the domain controller. Today, neither
he nor I (domain administrator) can do anything with that file. If I look at
the properties of the file and click on permissions, I get access denied. If
I click on ownership to take ownership of the file, I also get "Access
denied".
Can anyone explain what is going on, and how to fix this problem.

I suspect that the heart of this problem is Macintosh <-> Windows
interoperateability.
This file may have begun its life in Excel on a MAC running OS X.
The last time I saw this problem, it was a Word document created in Word on
a MAC running OS X, and saved on our WINNT 4/sp6 server.
Did that help? Any new leads to a solution?
