The m4a file type is a new audio compression format used by a number of
different players including QuickTime. See
http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=m4a&Submit3=Go%21 for more
details. WMP won't play these files without the addition of a suitable
filter.

Do you know of any websites that can provide free downloads of the suitable
filter needed to hearthis m4a format? The software is very expensive.
Thanks.

Winamp is a free download that will play m4a files, or
http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html is a free download for a program that
will convert m4a files into your choice of file type, including mp3 (which
windows media player will play)
