Hello
First time in this newsgroup so hope I'm not duplicating previous postings.
A friend of mine has a two year old computer which apparently has always had
this minor but niggling problem. Whenever he boots he gets a message on the
monitor that the monitor is doing a burn-in test & commences a countdown
clock. Pressing the re-start button is the temporary fix as then the
machine boots as normal, but is there a permanent fix? Cannot find any
settings to check/change.

Does this happen before Windows starts, or after?

It happens before windows starts & happens if also you turn on the monitor &
not the computer. Have checked the "help" sheet of paper that came with
monitor for clues - none. Also cannot find any menu type utility on the
monitor which is a "no-name" brand.

In that case you are looking in the right place, but I have never seen this
type of testing before.
