In the process of removing unwanted programs from my
windows 98 (2nd Edition)computer, I removed something
that has caused me to now only have 16 colors available
for the monitor display, and all my colors are off. Can
someone tell me what file (s) I need to reinstall from my
Windows 98 2nd edition CD ROM to get my display working
properly again?

You need to reinstall the display driver which may or may not have been
included with Windows. Check with the manufacturer of your computer if you
don't have a CD with drivers that came with your system.

I have the mfg. restoration CD, so I assume this has the
correct driver on it. Can you get a litte more basic,
and tell me where to look for and how to identify the
driver for the display?
Thanks!

Since you have a restore CD from the manufacturer, it's hard for me to tell
you since each manufacturer puts together their own package. Look for a
folder named Drivers or something similar. Within that folder, look for
Display or the manufacturer of your display adapter, such as Nvidea, ATI,
S3, etc. If you don't find or don't recognize the display driver, then you
should check the documentation that came with your computer or search their
online site or call them. They will be able to give you exact instructions
on where to find the driver.
You can also probably download the driver from the manufacturer and in fact
some manufacturers let you put in your serial number and then a screen will
come up with all of the hardware on your system identified. You can then
easily get the correct driver.

My guess (from your description) would be that you
uninstalled your video card drivers. To resolve this you
need to find out what kind of video card is physically
installed in your computer, visit the manufacturer's
website, then download and install the drivers for your
video card.
Good luck!
