Microsoft Virtual PC (Virtualizing Windows 2000)

it also says i need my proof of purchase, but i have no idea of where i left
that. some of my activation key i just have stored on my computer. for older
operating systems and other software that i do not use anymore, i just keep
in my closet. some of the stuff i am just too lazy to get rid of. I still
have installation CDs for Windows CE and Internet Explorer 4.

I guess i could try to give them a call. i looked on thir site that u gave
me a link to. i already bookmarked it from earler from something else. it
says that i need a proof of purchase. if i cannot find that, than how do i
prove that i have a retail copy of windows 2000? and get it replaced by
them?

since when is sharing an ISO of an installation CD of an operating system
illegal? it would be illegal if i was trying to get a activation key out of
one of you guys.

and by the way, its always a bad idea to go around asking for illegal copies
of software.

i'm not sure if my contacts with microsoft can help me with this particular
issue. i am only working with them on vista and windows 7 stuff. i guess i
can ask about windows 2000. it couldn't hurt.

Since as long as I can remember. Possession of the Activation Key is not
equal to legal license to the software, just like possession of the files
does not constitute legal license. It's a package deal. Files, Activation
Key and license. That's why your files don't work. Because they are OEM
files with an OEM license that MS does not permit to be installed in VPC.

I'm sure I could eventually find the provision in Microsoft's Windows 2000
Pro Retail EULA that prohibits distributing the software in any manner not
covered by their exceptions, and I'm fairly certain that your "exception"
does not qualify. I might be wrong, especially in the case of that multi-PC
incense, but a simple call to the contacts already provided would settle the
question. Why don't you call?
