My wife and I each have an email account set up with my ISP.
I've set up a rule to send any message with her email address to a folder
called "Wife".
Works perfectly.

Except if an email comes in addressed to both of us. Then both "copies" of
the email go to the "wife" folder.

Is there a way around this?

Use 'Where the email is from specified account' instead of using her email
address.
Do you also have 'Stop processing more rules'?

This is two accounts/addresses using the same OE identity?

First, create a local folder to be used as a second Inbox and name it
anything you want. (Inbox-2)? Use this for one of the accounts, and the
default Inbox for the other.

Then create a message rule.

Where the message is from the specified account.
Move it to the specified folder & Stop processing more rules.
Click on: Specified Account and enter the account name for the second Inbox.
Click on: Specified Folder and select the folder you created.
Name the rule.

Move this rule to the top of the rules list and the incoming messages will
be separated into their respective folders.

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on how the accounts are set up on the ISP.

Look in OE at Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers, Incoming Mail
Server Account Name.

If both accounts have the same name there, then you are out of luck. OE
is unable to tell the two messages apart.

If the names are different there, then you should be using the Rule
where the message is from Specified Account rather than where the TO
contains.

The accounts have different names so I used 'Where the email is from
specified account' .

When I read that previously, the word 'from' fooled me into thinking this
was something linked to outgoing mail.
I now realize it must mean 'from' the mail server.

Job solved.

Thanks to you all.

Steve
