the effective setting is now screwed up....he disabled it and the domain
enables it but now he cannot connect to a shre without authenitcating. I have

Settings from the domain will always supersede/overwrite settings made
on local machines. What are the effective settings right now? Make sure
that servers and clients have no contradicting settings. Try to
configure it so that both settings are configured to use "if
client/server agrees".

cheers,
