IE works fine for hours or even days without an issue until you visit a
secure site. Once you visit a secure site then IE will not launch. I know
that I have connection to the Internet since I can get updates for
Anti-virus, Malware and if I use a different browser. Something disables IE.

I have run scans using Norton, MalwareBytes, Mcafee, and other tools but no
success.

Any suggestions?

Please state your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3;
Vista 64-bit SP2; Win7 RC; Win7 RTM) when posting in a forum or newsgroup.

The system is an XP 32bit system and I think it is IE 8 but not certain since
it will not launch enough to go to the Help menu.

Those with IE7- and/or IE8-specific questions or comments can post to and
seek support in IE General newsgroup:
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

On the web:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=...rosoft.

In your newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

So start an new instance and check before visiting a "secure site".

BTW IE6 is not the best newsgroup for discussing issues about
newer versions of IE. Try the IE General NG instead.
