Post subject: IE6 slowdown.. Add to elertz
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>inetexplorer>ie6>setup (more info?)

Good evening,

Earlier this week we had 2 power outages back to back and I rebooted
afterwards and the internet was a bit sluggish so I dismissed it as Internet
provider was having trouble as well since the power outages. The same
night/morning Microsoft did a security update and rebooted that night.

My internet has been extremely slow since then. When I open the browser it
seems to take forever for the homepage (My Yahoo) to open completely and if
there is a link on the news that opens another window it is extremely slow
as well, it seems if I go to the bottom of the screen and right click on the
appropriate tab it seems to be a bit quicker, can't explain it but that is
what it seems. Also Outlook express seems to work fine.

Briefly;
I attempted to use IE7 about 6 months ago and I could not use my scanner
afterward, so I went back to the old IE6.
Window media came out with a new player several months back and it
conflicted with something, can't remember but I am using version 10.

I ran an AVG scan and a Webroot sweep to no avail. I have done a restore
to a night prior to the outages, called IP and the guy just left and said
that the levels looked fine, he cleaned all temporary files and cookies (I
have never seen that clear a problem-but they all do it), and said the
settings on IE6 look right.

I hate to have to format C: and start over if there is an easier solution.
I am looking for a IE6 download so I can uninstall and reinstall IE6, not
sure if it is still available or not nor if it will help.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
