Whenever I try to open a Word document, my computer freezes up. This happened
once before and a Dell tech support person found a very easy solution that
solved the problem, but I forget what it was. Any advice?

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

Click Start > Run > type "winword /a"
(without the quotes, & note the space after winword).
Does 'Word' open?

If yes, close 'Word', search for and delete all instances of the file
"normal.dot"
(without the quotes).
This should solve your problem.
