Post subject: Folder Redirection and VISTA???
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win2000>group_policy (more info?)

Hi all.

I am seeing a strange thing with regards to user Home folders, My Documents
and VISTA. We are running a Native 2003 Domain and I set a Home (HSmile folder
for each user account on a network share. I then configured a GPO to
redirect the My Documents content to the users Home Folder. The GPO Setting
is - Advanced. I selected a Domain Group and these options: Create a
folder for each user under the root path \\servername\empdata.

When a user logs on for the first time from a VISTA client, the Home drive
is mapped to the H: Drive but the Documents link are redirected to the H:
drive, not to a My Documents with-in the home drive (as it dows in XP).
This is an issue because of offline synch. Now everything in the users HOME
folder is synched as opposed to only the My Documents content.

How do I resolve this???

Thanks - Sam

Just redirect it to \\servername\home\%username%\My Documents

That created a My Documents folder with-in the Home folder however, all
folders in the Home folders are still set for offline availability (and can
not be unchecked) as well as the My Documents link on the start menu still
takes me to the Home Drive, not to the MY Docs folder....
