Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>inetexplorer>ie6_outlookexpress (more info?)

I have two machines that were running XP SP2. I downloaded and installed SP3
to both.

One PC is still ok. The other has corrupted Outlook Express.

The preview pane is visible but there are no contents. I know the dangers of
having preview on, so please don't tell me that I should manage without
preview!

Any help appreciated.

This started immediately after loading SP3? Try this first.

Go to Start | Run and type, or copy/paste:

regsvr32 inetcomm.dll P

Press "Enter"

Bruce

Thanks. I did that. The first pop-up box said "Dll...succeeded".

However, the second box said: "Loadlibrary("P") failed. The Specified module
could not be found"

The file inetcomm.dll IS on my PC.

*Did* this start immediately after loading SP3? Please answer and try this
next.

See if the problem persists in a new named identity.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main
Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it.
If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old
identity and delete it.

Bruce

I have just copied the Email icon from the startup button to the desktop and
the new icon works correctly!

So, I'm happy. Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi Bruce,

I have the exact problem. I tried the steps you suggested, even creating a
new identity but I cannot connect. I keep getting an error 0x800CCC15.
Everything ran great until I loaded SP3. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Please start your own new thread and explain everything in detail. The OP
never mentioned error 0x800CCC15, so I doubt you have the same problem.
