Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>inetexplorer>ie6_outlookexpress (more info?)

A collegue of mine is experiencing problems in OE6 with all the folders
expanding in the folders window pane rather than remembering the settings
previously displayed.
He had recently transfered all his folders over to a new PC with Vista, but
thinks the problem started to occur after he had installed Office 2007. He
is finding this a big problem since he has many folders and is difficult to
navigate through his many folders.
Is there any setting or fix (In the registry perhaps) that can help retain
the previous folder tree structure on startup.
This works as expected on my PC and cannot see any obvious differences.

Any help would be appreciatred.

Andrew.

Tools | Options | General. Uncheck: Automatically display folders with
unread messages. (And make sure all the messages are marked as read).

If your colleague has transferred to Vista, he is Not running OE6. He
might be running Vista Windows Mail WM) or possible Windows Live Mail
(WLM). Although the 3 programs have similar settings.

Windows Vista Mail Newsgroup (WM):
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

You can also get to the newsgroup via this web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/default.mspx
There select Windows Vista, then Windows Mail.

For help with the Windows Live Mail client, use this newsgroup (WLM):
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

You can also get to the newsgroups via this web site:

That did the trick.

I had looked at the differences between my PC's and my collegues PC's
settings and they were both set, but I didn't have any unread messages and
my collegue did, so that explains it.

Thanks,

Andrew.
