Post subject: Error message on my desktop

I've has this error message for a while and it seems I've tried everything to get rid of it. It says Restor My Active Desktop and it won't let me put a background pic up. I can get rid of the error message but even when I do I still can't get a pic up it just let me select a colour, the background selections are all frozen. Any idea's?
