Post subject: DNS Delegations Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win2000>dns (more info?)
1. Should all DNS servers be included in a delegation to a subdomain? Does
anyone have a link to any documentation to support removing name servers from
the delegation?
2. How does Microsoft DNS determine the closest name server? Can someone
explain "round trip intervals measured over time?" We have a server that is
referring requests to all of our name servers in the delegation. Are there
any hotfixes for this issue?
Note
If multiple NS records exist for a delegated zone identifying multiple DNS
servers available for querying, the Windows Server 2003 DNS Server service
will be able to select the closest DNS server based on the round trip
intervals measured over time for every DNS server.
All times are: Eastern Time (US & Canada) (change)
