Like Address Book may have become corrupted being located where you have it
and might be heading for oblivion anytime soon? I can drive my truck 100K
miles without wearing my seatbelt without getting hurt. That doesn't mean I
won't get hurt when my truck is hit tomorrow morning as I'm backing out of
my driveway. <wink>

Here's a safer (and saner) way of having one Address Book available on two
or more machines: Create and use the same Standalone Address Book on each
machine (i.e., the original on one, a copy on the other). When it needs
updating, just create a new one, delete both of the old ones, and put a copy
of the new one on the other machine. See

I keep an OE6 address book with many business contacts. Within the past
couple of months, any additions I make have become VERY slow. It is painful
to work with.

Is this just because the address book has gotten fairly large? It is taking
way too much time for me to use this now.
