and thats when trouble starts,,, when one 'thinks' not a lot can get in.
after ditching adaware (cos of their stupidity) my combo is now:::
'spybot, a-squared, spywareblaster, and avast',, and even then, i couldnt say that the govt' in
some way form or manner doesnt own/control them... no-one can.
same for my above spyware protection software.... i couldnt tell you whether or not they are the
same ppl who write spyware thereby enticing the mums n' dads to purchase their products,,,,,
lets get real ppls.
point being,,, 'HouseKeeping'...! good puter housekeeping and using file-destroyers at
d-o-d level are the best place to start.
constant defrag is a must,,, and yes, it does take a few months of life out of your hard-drive,
but its worth it.
joan, trust me, there is More than a lot that can get into your machine..... after all, it is
just a machine, isnt it?

Well, you lost my interest at *puter* and *ppls*.....and I do believe
Joanie can take care of both herself and her computer. ROFL!!
Jeanette.......we have all known each other for roughly 8 years and
trust me, there isn't anything out there that we collectively don't know
about. I specialized in viruses and malware.....Mike is the Guru of
WinME & XP......Heirloom knows all the cleaners and savers of
accidentally deleted stuff......etc., etc.
So if you want advice, just ask us. OH, and as for who writes the
spyware and malware?? Know some of them too and they DON'T work for the
anti-malware/anti-spyware companies......that is a really dumb myth.
LOL.
Back to lurking and jewellery.
Hey Joanie, Elayne leaves Saturday and she has now got her *mojo* back
and is churning out some lovely pieces. Sob....I am going to miss her
badly!!
Loon.....those were cute pictures.
Mike....I owe you *many emails*....lol.
Been a tad busy lately.

And your protection for root kits and BIOS malware is? There's a reason
that Linux has a reputation for being safer than Windows

I am guilty of not replying to emails.....dunno why. Just one of those
moods, I guess. OTOH, I have been busy getting ready for the brat's 2
week visit and also making jewellery. Not to mention bidding on eBay
for Swarovski crystals for a song and so on.
Loon sent me pictures of himself in his *birthday suit*......bwa ha ha.
No, they were cats and dogs. Elayne just bought herself a dog before
she came and it is so cute. Half Shih Tzu and half Havanese......a pure
Cuban breed. Shoot, all the Yanks on here won't know what it is cuz
they can't know anything about Cuba. ROFL!!
I promise I will write you and Mikey very shortly and send you some pics
of our creations. The local bead store guy really likes the stuff we
are making. I am going to have to figure out how and where to sell it.
eBay? Nah. Local store? Perhaps. Certainly not going to put an ad in
the paper giving my address what with all the crime lately, lol.
Elayne did an amazing copper & Swarovski necklace and is now working on
yet another expensive gemstone one. Wahhhhhhh, I am going to miss her
terribly, but we won't tell her!! It is her birthday tomorrow so have
to take her clothes shopping. She leave at 4 pm on Saturday.

There is a lot of misinformation regarding this post.
There is definitely a Free Version of AdAware 2008 and it is NOT a trial
version although there is a paid version too.
Also, AdAware SE can still be used except that you will have to do
manual updates - the updates are posted at the Lavasoft web site on the
page below - look at the top right side - both the AAW 2008 AND AAW SE
version updates are there.
One can use a third party utility in a batch file to download the update
but it's a little tricky to configure.

They may call it a "free" version, but it is only a "TrialPay" version and
with it goes a free "Plus" version. And none of this pertains to WinME
anymore.
Doesn't make much of a difference either, does it?
We've found substitutes of at least equal value. <H>.
