Dear all
Not sure where I can get support, so I am posting here in the hope
someone can point me in the right direction please.

I have a Newlink 11g Wireless Access Point (NLWL-ACC01) and have
forgotten the wep key. I also cannot load the configuration page to
reset it.

There is no support section on the Newlink website.
Can anyone help please?

Did your Wireless Access Point (WAP) come with a manual?

How about an installation CD? If so, check for a manual on the CD.

If you can't find the manual, a Google search turns up this file.

802.11g Wireless LAN Access Point User Guide
http://www.lanshop.co.uk/downloads/NLWL-ACC01/802.11gWirelessAccessPoint.pdf

According to page 5 of the manual you can access the WAP's web interface by
doing the following.

Go to Start -> Run and enter the following in the Open box and click OK.

http://192.168.1.100

In the box that pops up, leave the user name line blank and enter the correct
password, if you configured one earlier, and click OK. If you did not set up a
password, leave the password line blank. If you set up a password and now cannot
remember it, you will have to hit Reset button on the back of the WAP to restore
the factory default settings.

Once you've launched the web interface, it looks like you need to click on
Wireless Security in the left hand column. From there, use the instructions on
page 13 of the manual to reset your WEP key to something you'll remember. You'll
now need to use that key in all the devices that are connected through the WAP.

On a side note, WEP is the weakest form of security you can use with a wireless
network. If possible, you should use WPA.

Good luck

The only way you could fix this is to locate how to complete "reset"
this AP back to the factory defaults. However, the only document for
this AP is supposed to be a user guide, which is already "damaged"
prior to downloading.

One suggestion is to "ditched" this Newlink 11g Access Point. A
possible replacment unit is:

TRENDnet offers support.

You need to check and make sure that the wireless network that you
access is definately yours and not neighbor's. Turn the power off on
your AP and check to see if you still connect to the same wireless
network. If yes, it is not your wireless network.

Dear Nepatsfan
Many thanks for your reply.
I have the manual, and have gone through the reset process etc and I
have also gone to start. rune but all I get is not found page so it
appears the unit may have stopped working correctly.

I have a wireless network being picked up by my laptop, as a default
access point, with no security and I am getting a full signal, so I am
assuming this is my access point due to a full signal, but if this is my
access point, I still cannot get in to the setup page via 192.168.1.100
as shown in the manual.

Many thanks for oyur help.
Regards
Barry

Dear smlunatick
Many thanks for taking the time to reply.
I found the manual and have done a reset as you suggested, my laptop is
now picking up a default access point, at full strength, but I still
cannot access the setup page via 192.168.1.100 as shown in the manual.

Perhaps you are right, I need to repalce it!
Many thanks
Barry

Go to Start -> Run and enter cmd.exe in the Open box.
Enter the following command next to the prompt.

ipconfig /all > C:\Ipconfig.txt

Next, go to My Computer or Windows Explorer and open your C drive.
Open Ipconfig.txt.
Copy the contents of this file and paste it into a response to this message.
