posted this in the xp hardware group but got no response. . thought i would
try here, , ,

hello, i made the mistake of downloading a registry scanner called
"registry booster" by Uniblue turned out you had to "register" to get the
full version. . but in the meantime it caused something to happen to my 4
port 2.0 usb hub. . (internal). . did two system restores to no avail.
device manager says the ports are working . .when i plug in a device i get
the message "device not recognized" but when i plug it into one of the front
usb ports, the slower ones, it works fine. . .any suggestions?
Thanks for any info

Go into the device manager and delete all instances of USB

then reboot and let Windows reinstall.

I am sure you've learned your lesson about registry cleaners!
