A friend of mine offered me a Windows XP disk with a full licence.
Will I be able to update my Windows 2000 or must I make a clean install
(giving me a lot of problems as I have a huge quantity of programs to be
reinstalled)?
Thanks
Horst

It depends on what version the Windows XP is. If it is XP Home, then you
can't upgrade from Win2k. If it is XP Pro, you can.

To add to that...
If the license your friend gave you happens to be an OEM license - you
cannot upgrade your Windows 2000 install no matter if it is Windows XP
Professional (32 bit) or not. OEMs do not perform upgrade installations.

Thank you very much: it is an OEM!
